Biblical Counseling is a Christ-centered, church-based, all-inclusive, and empathetic, personal evangelistic, one-another ministry that depends upon the power of the Holy Spirit and the sufficiency, inerrancy and the authority of the Holy Scripture (Sola Scriptura) by which Christians must assess all other truth claims.
Biblical Counseling encourages believers struggling with sinful life issues. Moreover, Biblical counseling offers biblical hope and encouragement to people living with non-physical life challenges and with chronic and/or life-threatening physical life troubles, and is a process of focused and personal discipleship.
Pastoral Counseling is normally the Pastor of a congregation, that on a regular basis, is involved in counseling those that attend his church. However, in this instance, Pastoral Counseling is the “counseling, admonishment, training” of interns or those who have future desires of becoming a “pastor” or someone in a pastoral position.
The PBCM Pastoral Components are made up of “Experienced Pastors” who train pastors: When it comes to training, “reproducing after our own kind”. Only experienced, godly, “orthodox” pastors can wholly train other would-be pastors. One who has never pastored a church, “people or the invisible church” is limited in equipping men for vital pastoral “Ephesians 4:12-16” functions which they have never performed. At the Peninsula Biblical Counseling Ministries (PBCM), pastor-professors give men the pastoral knowledge and equipping they need to become successful pastor and teachers of men and the biblical foundation to enter any “Seminary”.
In an era where many pastors have given up the biblical approach, training their own, and have handed that responsibility over to seminars, agencies and other outside institutions. The Peninsula Biblical Counseling Ministries (PBCM) seeks to produce pastors who can reproduce themselves in the church. The pastor-professors of the Peninsula Biblical Counseling Ministries (PBCM) train laypeople for ministry in their own churches, and train prospective pastors for vocational ministry at the seminary level.
Scripture will be our main source of wisdom (James 1:5) and discernment (1 Corinthians 2:12-16) when it comes to the role of a pastor in the church. God places much responsibility on the man called to lead and care for his people!
Our major tool for learning is the Bible (accentuating the Pastoral Epistles and Philemon).
